He acquired his MBBS degree followed by post-graduation in Kolkata. Dr. Mitra is a distinguished Member of the National Board of Exams and holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from the UK.

After completing his education in 1993, Dr. Bani Kumar Mitra commenced his practice, eventually founding the renowned Surgy Centre in 1995, alongside his wife, Dr. Konkon Das (Mitra). In 2020, the centre evolved into the esteemed Abha Surgy Centre. Driven by a passion for innovation, they introduced IVF services in 2005, revolutionizing reproductive healthcare in Eastern India.

His commitment to advancing IVF technology has transformed ASHPL into one of the finest institutions offering cost-effective IVF solutions in the region.

Dr. Bani Kumar Mitra’s scholarly contributions are widely recognized in Eastern India, as well as in countries like Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia, with over 50 presentations published in esteemed medical journals.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Dr. Bani Kumar Mitra indulges in gardening and relishes taking short breaks to rejuvenate. He also actively participates in social initiatives through Brahma Kumaris.
